About MeI am an interdisciplinary scientist exploring how organisms interact via chemistry.
I most recently worked in drug discovery at Zymergen, Inc., a biotech company that specializes in synthetic biology to produce plastics and drugs from microbes for a sustainable future. I completed my PhD in Medicinal Chemistry with Dr. Eric Schmidt at the University of Utah, where I studied natural products chemistry and biosynthesis from marine invertebrates and their symbiotic microbiomes. My postdoctoral research in insect symbiosis with Dr. Nancy Moran at the University of Texas at Austin focused on how sap-feeding aphids may control the growth and proliferation of their amino acid-producing Buchnera symbionts by manipulating Buchnera cell wall chemistry. |
